DESCRIPTION: Similar to C. woodsonii but the bract tips curl outwards giving the effect of having appendaged bracts. All vegetative parts are glabrous, ligule is truncate, 8-10 mm long. Bracts are red maturing to deep maroon in color. Flowers are red-orange. Bracteole and calyx are red in contrast to the whitish bracteole and calyx of C. woodsonii. Flower has more open labellum than C. woodsonii.
