DESCRIPTION: Described as follows in Stokes Tropicals Catalog: A startling ginger with a maroon stem with overcupping ligules, solid green leaves and a brilliant red inflorescence - all in one package. Grows 3' -4' tall.

Description by Colton Collins: Stems are maroon with overcupping. Leaves are solid green with prominent veins that add texture to the upper surface. Petiole, costa, and underside of leaves are pubescent. Inflorescence is obvate. Bracts are thick and red with a yellow-green line along centerline. Flowers are yellow. Photo by Colton Collins.
